Down to Earth

Finally! If all the spicier, brighter hues we have covered for Spring thus far are just not your cup of tea this post is for you!

The coming season will also open its doors to more soothing and wearable earth-colored tones. Described as a dramatically deep yet stable neutral, Russet provides a beautiful backdrop to all of the other Spring colors but is just as easy wear from head to toe. In make-up, look for Russet blush.  As a warm nude bronze with gentle red undertones, you can easily transition your skin from winter white to a healthy, sun-kissed glow.  For accessories, earth-toned handbags are a beautiful alternative to your standard black while still providing an easy "go with anything," carry-all solution!

Why So Blue?

I have always been drawn to the blue family of colors, and this season's versions are no exception!  Probably one of the most versatile Spring 2011 colors, Regatta Blue can be worn as a neutral as it tends to go well with every other hue.   One of my favorite ways of freshening this color up is with blue greens such as Blue Curacao.  Haider Ackermann (below center) does an excellent job of demonstrating the harmony of these two with  his long, flowy satin design.

Worn as a blouse, dress, bottoms, or light coat, blue will be the effortlessly chic way to ease into the bold color trend of the season.

Our signature handbag lining is almost a perfect mix of this season's Regatta Blue and Blue Curacao.  If you are as obsessed with this color trend as we are, check out our Sadye design in navy.  We may be biased, but it sure does seem to tie all the blue elements together quite beautifully! ;)

A Little Sunshine

I know the thought of wearing orange and yellow probably makes most people cringe, but don't!  This season's versions are NOT what you may have in mind, and in fact they blend well with most skin tones and colors.  Coral rose is a warm orange with spicy undertones, while Beeswax is a soft, warm version of the bright yellows we typically see in Spring and Summer. As you can see below, the two complement each other quite nicely while coral rose adds just the perfect touch of pop against neutrals. I love the look by Charles Anastase (far right) which demonstrates the ease of pulling off brighter colors by the use of accessories. However you decide to rock these hot hues, don't be shy to add a little sunshine to your day!

If you rather not play it safe and want to make a statement, try combining either hue with a contrasting blue.  Regatta blue or Blue Curacao are great options, and are the next hot hues for Spring 2011. Check back in tomorrow to see how to incorporate these ocean-inspired colors into your everyday look!
